Art Mosh London

Nixon ART MOSH is a melting pot of some of the freshest talent in contemporary art and music. It is a series of one-night only Pop Up exhibitions, showcasing international artists, designers, photographers and musicians. After the success of the Paris and New York ART MOSH events, featured in influential publications including Design Week, Vice and Wallpaper*, ART MOSH pops up again in London, at the A Foundation in Shoreditch, a former Victorian school converted into an imposing gallery in the heart of the contemporary art world.

First launched in Nixon’s hometown of Encinitas in 2007, featuring works from Nixon team riders, friends and family, ART MOSH has grown to include stops and installations in Paris, Vancouver, London, Dublin, Singapore and New York, with more to come. ART MOSH LONDON will feature an abundance of talent.

Emerging British artist Richie Culver will be exhibiting with high profile London based illustrator Sophie Stevens and launching his project called MONSTERS. Based on a childhood game, each Monster is comprised of separate canvases of body parts, created by a different artists. Eliot Sumner of I Blame Coco and Robbie Furze of The Big
Pink.

Andreas Muller will push the boundaries of technological innovation and expression, along with fellow digital artist, and co-founder of Digital Club, Thomas Traum, with their project After Burn; Tomomi Sayuda’s interactive installation, ‘iBum 100’ is a contemporary, tongue in cheek reinterpretation of Yoko Ono’s “Film Number 4
(Bottoms)”; B Project, otherwise known as Matt the Chef and Japanese graphic designer Yuko Namai-Bishop, will create a site-specific ‘Burger Queen’ installation for ART MOSH, giving guests the chance to eat art in the form of mini-Wagu burgers.

Dublin-born photographer and filmmaker Niall O’Brien, fresh from his acclaimed solo exhibition ‘Good Rats’ at Art Work Space, will exhibit a series of prints featuring Bad Brains; London-based photographer Alexander James will exhibit his Parkour prints, and his ‘Taxi’ series, shot in the neon-soaked cities of Tokyo, Hong Kong and
Shanghai.

Bringing a bit of California cool will be LA-based artists Morgan Slade, Yoskay Yamamoto and Andrew Hem; South African street artist Faith 47 brightens up Shantytowns with her painterly graffiti and unique typography; German graffiti artists Hera (Jasmin Seddique) and Akut (falk Lehmann) collaborate under the alias of ‘Herakut’,and their differing approaches create an explosive combination.

Graphic artist Mark Ward will exhibit his surreal, candy-coloured illustrations and murals, influenced by American pop culture. Giles Curties, AKA Horn-head, is an award-winning British product designer and artist, whose eye-catching screen prints and collages feature skulls and superheroes, and have infiltrated the worlds of fashion and film; Also working in a variety of media and spanning art, fashion and film are Sawdust, a London-based graphic design team comprised of Rob Gonzalez and Jonathan Quainton; Filtr are a London-based collective of Art Directors and Designers, specializing in Youth, Music and Fashion. Their refined style has attracted clients including Diesel, MTV and Matthew Williamson.

Recent graduates Neil Ayling and Yoojin Jung will also exhibit at ART MOSH. Ayling graduated with a 1st in sculpture from Winchester School of Art, an MA Sculpture from the RCA, and is a studio assistant for the legendary Sir Anthony Caro. His practice is concerned with the sculptural aesthetic of the cityscape. Jung was born in South Korea, where she studied Oriental painting, before moving to the UK for an MA in Fine Art at the Slade. Her work has a minimalist aesthetic, and examines invisibility in relation to space.

Music will be provided by Liam Bailey (Polydor Records), whose debut album is making waves in the music world. Iconic British producer and DJ Ashley Beedle (Dark Star/ Mavis Project); Andy Bell (Beady Eye), singer-songwriter-producer and former member of Ride; Arveene (Bang Gang/ Plant), one of Irelands most respected and versatile DJs; Jamie Skillz (MonoChrome), an artist-DJ and one half of Monochrome; and J Saintil, a hot London-based DJ who has rocked festivals and warehouse parties around the world; and Clash Magazine DJ’s.

Drinks are provided complimentary of Sfuso, Babicka Vodka, Tiger Beer and Vitamin Water.
