The Mystery of Banksy, A Genius Mind
The ‘unauthorised exhibition’ begins with the focus placed on Palestine. The most well known and most viewed image is of the protestor hurling a bunch of flowers in the direction of the IDF.
Banksy chronological presentation
Once leaving the allure of the Walled hotel of Bethlehem, you are welcomed by a chronological presentation of Banksy’s works over the decades. The viewer is being prepared to be submerged into the brilliance of the man Banksy.
To be British
Banksy pulls no punches. Literally in your face with his Queen Vic depiction while provocatively posturing Princess Di via the DiFaced tenner.
Girl with the balloon at the Waterloo bridge with the words, there is always hope. While the balloon of love floats away from the forlorn child.
The remarkable Banksy has been able to capture the imagination of the viewers of his majestic art work which at times is provocatively placed in areas to ‘stimulate’ thought and intrigue. The splendour of his works continues to captivate new audiences while continuing to satisfy his legion of followers across the globe.
In the next section, one is encountered by a video on the background of Banksy. It is a must watch. PROVOCATIVE is the word and it sells.
A MAZE ING
The process of his majestic work and the timescale associated is presented in a well thought out placement of his works, in a way that captures the attention and presents the absolute genius of Banksy’s work. It is ingenious.
The DONE DEAL of Banksy as the Picasso of the 21st Century, says it all and is befitting. The mystery of the ‘Anarchist’
BRISTOL BANKSY … is it true, is he real.
The amount of millions the works of Banksy has been sold for is mind boggling
Stencil technique
As Banksy became more famous it became increasingly difficult to avoid detection and arrest. The move to the stencil technique is explained as follows:
Like all vandals he would have to run away when police came by … leaving his work unfinished. It was during one of these getaways, as he was hiding from police under a bin truck that he noticed the stencilled number on the vehicles bumper. This incident inspired him and next time he went out, he brought a ready-made template which he could simply spray onto a wall and walk away in a matter of seconds
If ever one wondered why the stencil technique came about, you now know.
The stencil technique allowed for the speed of Banksy, and whereas some disapprove of the stencil technique, it has certainly allowed for more Banksy works worldwide.
A Banksy Feast
The whole exhibition is a feast for the eye while providing thought provoking moments across the maze of well placed and thought out images. It is breathtaking.
At any given time there can be as much as 120 people in attendance across this ‘a maze ing‘ layout presented by the Global Pop Art Museum in Tallinn.
Hours are needed for this exhibition and in truth that may not be enough.
As the patron . viewer . guest . enthusiast . inquiring mind wanders from section to section it gives rise to the name of the exhibition and exactly how apt it is. There are not enough expletives to provide one the ability of describing the vastness of the exhibition, however, A GENIUS MIND will suffice undoubtedly and with preciseness.
The allure and genius of the man’s mind is there for all to see. And see it, you must. This is more than well worth the visit and time.
We have attended numerous exhibitions however none matched this uniquely high caliber in presentation and intrigue.
Before you leave
There is an opportunity to have a stencil created and to purchase Banksy clothing which is neat and acceptable
