Comedian and double British Comedy Award winner Dave Spikey returns to the live stage in 2013 with the fourth incarnation of his critically acclaimed Words Don’t Come Easy tour. By its conclusion, the continually-evolving tour will have seen the hugely popular Lancashire based comic and TV favourite perform more than 100 dates around the UK.<\/p>\n

As anyone who has ever seen Dave Spikey will testify, his performances are packed with fresh material and observational comedy.\u00a0 Inspired by the fantastic audience response to his deconstruction of song lyrics in his 2008\/09 \u201cBest Medicine Tour\u201d, and his fascination with the vagaries of the English language, thishilarious show examines many of life\u2019s situations where words really don\u2019t come easy. These include tongue-tied parents explaining the facts of life, adolescent chat-up lines, weird hospital speak, learning a foreign language and an extended selection ofsong lyrics that range from the lazy through surreal to the ridiculous.\u00a0 Whether he\u2019s regaling tales of local news and misleading newspaper headlines or just everyday life experiences, the man who co-wrote and co-starred in comedy classic Phoenix Nights,\u00a0 is sure to have his audiences rolling in the aisles \u2026in a good way!<\/p>\n

Since winding up the third segment of the Words Don’t Come Easy tour in spring 2012, Dave has turned his attention to writing – teaming up once more with Neil Fitzmaurice, his Phoenix Nights collaborator, for a series on ballroom dancing, set against the backdrop of a Blackpool hotel.\u00a0 Dave has also been asked to write another serving of Magnolia, the comedy drama first shown on BBC1 Comedy Playhouse which starred Ralph Ineson (The Office) as an ex-con turned painter and decorator.<\/p>\n
