Art Lovers To Cologne For Lichtenstein Exhibition

The Excelsior Hotel Ernst is calling all art lovers to Cologne this Summer to view the Roy Lichtenstein – Art as Motif exhibition held at the Museum Ludwig from July to October.

The five star Excelsior Hotel Ernst is a member of ‘The Leading Hotels of the World’ and provides guests with an enviable city centre location for a cultural break to view a selection of the 72 museums and art galleries throughout the city.

The Art Lovers Break includes a one night stay in a deluxe room, tickets for the exhibition and an exquisite three course meal at one of the hotels excellent award winning restaurants and an Excelsior Hotel Ernst breakfast buffet.

Art lovers from all over the world flock to Cologne in their thousands every year to enjoy the must see exhibition which explores the artistic style and life works of the grand master of Pop Art Roy Lichtenstein.

The American Pop Artist is well known for his comic book artistic style and his famous M-Maybe painting which was one of the first loans made by the museum founders, Mr and Mrs Ludwig and is now one of the jewels of the museum collection.

The exhibition will look at some of Lichtenstein’s most famous pieces of art work including his most celebrated piece Whaam! – a cartoon style picture of a fighter aircraft firing a rocket at an enemy plane.

The Museum Ludwig was the first museum in Cologne to exhibit contemporary art such as Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol and prides itself on having the biggest collection of Pop Art outside of the USA.

The exhibition begins on 2nd July and runs through until 3rd October except for Monday’s when the museum is closed.
